It is executed with reusable tare, called container, and protects the goods not only on board but also while multimodal transportation by any means of transport. What DC means
DC containers are designed to move dry cargo. In English DC means dry container. Marking of DV is similar to this, that means dry van and GP is used as a synonym of the term general purpose. We can assume that all three abbreviations apply to the container for dry cargoes carriage.
If the price of new 40DC container is significantly lower than from most manufacturers, it is possible to state that it is made with violation of standard requirements. This can be expressed in the use of thin metal, cheap seals on the doors or less resistant protective coating. Low new railway container of 40 feet is not subjected to salt spray, which allows buying less expensive containers for railway transportation. Typically, the containers shipped only by land transport, are not stored more than two or three tiers in height, so they can have thinner metal.
