New high and standard 30-foot container
Despite the fact that most shipping containers have lengths 20 and 40 feet, and all ships and port mechanisms are designed for them, life requires the application of 30-foot containers also. ISO 668-1995(E) permits their production with different height and width. For the standard sizes the length and width of the shipping container of 8 feet were adopted due to the adaptability of the port infrastructure to these dimensions.
Increased new 30-foot container can be easily mounted on board of the ship, as we adhere to the principle of multiplicity of length and connection dimensions. It will put on the railway platform or semitrailer easily, that allows its effective use for multimodal transportation. It is important that the height and width of 30-foot container can take a single value with 20-foot and 40-foot containers:
- • Type 1B – standard height of 8 feet;
- • Type 1BB - 8 feet 6 inches;
- • Type 1BBB – 9 feet 6 inches;
- • Type 1BX – has reduced height relatively to the standard height.
Sale and rent of new 30-ton railway and sea containers allow to use the advantages of container transportation much as possible, because very often the volume of containers is not enough, or, on the contrary, excessive. The use of design solutions, proven in forty and twenty foot models, allowed us to introduce a new container of 30 feet into circulation without any problems. Test loads were not specially worked out; models intended for 40-foot were used instead.
